Baked Creamed Onions Recipe
This may be prepared ahead of time, refrigerated and then baked. Very yummy

Ingredients
  • 5 mediun onions, sliced into rings
  • 3 Tbs butter
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp allspice
  • 2 Tbs flour
  • 1, small can , 5 oz evaporated canned milk
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 Tbs grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbs dry bread crumbs

Directions
  1. In skillet saute onion rings in butter for 5 minutes.
  2. Add water and allspice and bring to a boil
  3. Combine flour and evaported milk and blend smooth.
  4. Gradually stir into onion mixture.
  5. Bring to a boil and cook and stir until thickened.
  6. Stir in sugar and salt.
  7. Transfer mixture to a greased square pan or casserole. to hold mixture
  8. Sprinkle with cheese and bread crumbs
  9. Bake uncoverd for 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes or bubbly

Sounds good, although I'd skip the condensed milk in favor of half and half or heavy cream. Nutmeg??
