How to make it

  • In skillet saute onion rings in butter for 5 minutes.
  • Add water and allspice and bring to a boil
  • Combine flour and evaported milk and blend smooth.
  • Gradually stir into onion mixture.
  • Bring to a boil and cook and stir until thickened.
  • Stir in sugar and salt.
  • Transfer mixture to a greased square pan or casserole. to hold mixture
  • Sprinkle with cheese and bread crumbs
  • Bake uncoverd for 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes or bubbly

    Sounds good, although I'd skip the condensed milk in favor of half and half or heavy cream. Nutmeg??
