German Apple Cake
From crabhappychick 15 years agoIngredients
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
- 5 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 4 cups apples, peeled, sliced shopping list
- 3 cups flour shopping list
- 1 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 4 large eggs shopping list
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup orange juice shopping list
- 1 tablespoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350.
- First, mix cinnamon and 5 tablespoons of sugar together and set aside.
- Mix cake ingredients for 4 minutes using mixer. Grease and flour bundt or tube pan. Pour a layer of batter, then a layer of apples - sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. Alternate layers, ending with a layer of batter 2 more times.
- Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
- NOTE: I use peaches instead of apples sometimes! If you do, make sure they're not overripe or they'll be too wet for the cake. Equally delicious!
- NOTE: I use a charlotte pan - it is a little larger than a regular bundt pan and makes a beautiful presentation.
