Fudge It
From bradfordblanco 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 package of Nestle's semisweet chocolate morsels, 12 to 18 oz. shopping list
- 1 can Borden sweetened condensed milk shopping list
- 1 to 2 teaspoons real vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 vanilla bean (optional) shopping list
- 1 splash of Chambord (optional) shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) shopping list
- 1/2 cup strawberries, split or whole (optional, a creative topping) shopping list
- whatever else you like with this kinda thing (cream cheese or marshmallow topping, etc) shopping list
- 1 medium sized deep sauce pan shopping list
How to make it
- In a deep sauce pan, low heat, melt
- chocolate morsels (i,e, chocolate chips, Nestle's works best for whatever reason)
- stir constantly until the chocolate appears to be retempered (i.e., develops a nice glossy sheen)
- add 1 small can of sweetened condensed milk ( Borden is excellent for this, Carnation is slightly over par)
- stir to homogeneity (just fold it in gently and stir it around)
- add 1 to2 teaspoons of real vanillla extract (imitation is not allowed here)
- fold and stir to homogeneity
- add a splash of Chambord to taste (or none if one is tasteless)
- fold and stir to homogeneity
- add your nuts, crazy if you like (minced hazelnuts are best in this, but pecans, walnuts or almonds work well too)
- serve hot over vanilla ice cream with sliced peaches or whole Strawberries, or raspberries (or whatever fruit ya choose)
- OR
- line an 8 inch glass casserole with wax paper, pour it in, top it with a favorite fruit or marshmallow or cream cheese, or no topping at all, and let chill in the refrigerator, then slice into 3/4 inch squares and give the junkies a treat
- NOTE: if you have a vanilla bean to spare, split it lengthwise and let it soak in the condensed milk during preparation, then just toss it in the mix.
- NOTE: a sprig of mint is a wicked garnish with this.
- NOTE: good quality hazelnut liquor is great substitute for chambord (if there is sucha thing)

Hmmmm sounds interesting for sure. Raspberries and chocolate are soooo good. Frangelica is a hazelut liqueur that would also be good.
