Wonderful chocolate layer cake with a chocolate cream cheese frosting. Acquired this recipe from a church cookbook
Ingredients
- ****************chocolate Wonder Cake******************* shopping list
- 1 - 3 oz. square baking chocolate shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups flour(all purpose) shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- *************** shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 3/4 cup sugar(yes....another sugar addition. Stay with me!) shopping list
- 3 eggs, beaten shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- ******************chocolate Wonder Frosting***************** shopping list
- 1 - 3oz. package cream cheese shopping list
- 2 or 3 Tablespoons milk shopping list
- 2 cup confectioners powdered sugar shopping list
- 2-3oz squares chocolate shopping list
- dash of salt shopping list
How to make it
- Melt chocolate.
- Add 1 cup sugar & buttermilk. Cool.
- Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Cream butter, 1/2 cup sugar.
- Add eggs and 1/4 cup flour.
- Add chocolate mixture.
- Add rest of flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
- Add vanilla
- Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
- Ice with the Chocolate Wonder Frosting.
- Cream the cream cheese; add sugar, salt and melted chocolate.
- Add enough milk to make the right consistency to spread
