  • Combine all ingredients. Heat to boiling.
  • Cook until thick, this will take 15 to 20
  • minutes. This equals one can.

    Just made a double batch. I found out the hard way to use a double boiler cause I burnt the first batch.

    I was very disappointed that it still tasted so much like the powdered milk. So I added 2 Tsp. of vanilla, it made it a little better. Hope it doesn't taint the ice cream I'm making

    Brianna,
    I am thinking you prolly COULD freeze this..Just be SURE to let it completely un-thawed and then remix for your correct consistency. you will save by making extra, I do know that!! :)

    Thanks so much for this recipe. Too many times I find a recipe that needs condensed milk & I don't make it because I have none at the time. I always have powdered milk on hand. I wonder if it could be frozen? I'll have to make some & try it. Sure would be nice to have a few batches on hand. Brianna

    I was thinking just the other day that I want to
    store powdered milk and start using it again for
    some cooking jobs..?? You can buy powered milk in
    HUGE boxes and it will keep for a long time.

    Hey there Blue,
    I am thinking that if this was sealed very tightly and stored in a really cold area of the refrigerator that we might be able to make up
    several batches, (I THINK) they would keep for
    maybe a couple weeks..what do you all think?
    I KNOW if you could do that, it WOULD be a money
    saver.

    I believe IF you have the ingredients on hand..
    and it saved you trips (gas)..this might save
    us $$..also..seems like it is something JB & I
    never seem to have when we need it..
