Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cook rice according to package directions.
  • Disolve the boullion cube in the water.
  • Heat bacon fat and flour over medium heat until its well blended , you want to stir it all the time.
  • Add your onions, celery, and garlic.
  • When they are lightly browned add all of the meat and brown it well.
  • Stir in the boullion cube that you put into the 1 cup of water and add the peppers, wocestershire, tobasco and salt and pepper.
  • Cook it slowly for about 10 to 15 minutes, don't allow it to get too thick though, keep a close eye on it.
  • Mix all of this with the cooked rice and serve hot!

    O My Goodness...What a Great way to start a day...
    reading your recipe for 'Dirty Rice'! This is just the way I remember my friends in New Orleans making it when I lived in the city and enjoyed eating their meals! In fact they would make up this 'Dirty Rice' and take 'HUGE' containers of it to the 'local' Mardi Gras parade route and 'serve it up'!!!Wonderful memories...as I now live in Southern California!...You are correct about the 'giblets'...it is Not 'Dirty Rice' without those!
    Also 'True' 'Dirty Rice' does NOT have tomato sauce as one of the ingredients!...So said my friends in New Orleans!!!
