From tippystclair 15 years agoIngredients
- 1 package of white dried tapioca pearls (large). Do not use instant tapioca by Minute Rice. shopping list
- A jar of honey or corn syrup shopping list
- Your favorite green liquid drink: lime Kool-Aid, green tea, limeade, or any green alcoholic drink or cocktail. shopping list
- food coloring, if desired shopping list
- A small glass cup. The effect works best if the cup is clear. Small, because for a first-timer it is difficult to drink more than a small amount of it. shopping list
- Big fat straws, at least 1/4 inch diameter. Big enough to suck up those little frog eggs. shopping list
How to make it
- You will need to soak the tapioca in room temp water overnight, so plan a day ahead. Once you do this, you simmer the tapioca pearls for 15 minutes in lots of water. Uset least 5 times as much water as tapioca. The tapioca package will have basic instructions, but they are usually for pudding. You need more water.
- Once your 15 minutes is up, it will be a slimy, gooey mess. Rinse in warm water, transferring from the strainer to the mixing bowl several times, until the slimy goo is gone and you are left with translucent spheres that are about 1/4 inch in diameter.
- Put them in a container and into the refrigerator to cool down. They will keep for 3 or 4 days.
- Mix up your green drink if it is a powder, add a tablespoon of honey or corn syrup. Put in some crushed ice, if desired. Stir well.
- Place several tablespoons of frog eggs in the bottom of the glass. They will clump together. They are kind of sticky.
- Pour the sweet liquid swamp water in to half-full.
- Stir to separate the little spheres.
- Fill the glass to the top.
- Add a little gummy frog, if you like.
- To make it a bit more cloudy, add a touch of evaporated milk and stir gently.
