Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat 1/3 cup oil and add eggplants and diced onion. Fry them at medium heat until onion is translucent. Add the tomato sauce and boil it gently at low heat to reduce. Add 1/2 cup wine, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano and thyme. Set it aside.
  • Heat 1/3 cup oil and fry the ground beef and lamb with the allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon, add salt and pepper and in the end, the last 1/2 cup of wine. Set it on the side.
  • Fry the potatoes in the remaining 1/2 cup oil. Sprinkle with salt and paprika.
  • In a large oven dish layer in the following order: potatoes, meat mixture, eggplant mixture and repeat to end with the eggplant mixture.
  • On top of the dish sprinkle with the cheese.

    That is as close as I can get to Hi, and don't ask me to pronounce it. Wonderful recipe I like Moussaka and this sounds wonderful. It is always a pleasure to run across a recipe that has been in the family. That makes it all the more special. Thank you for posting this one.
