A neighbor gave me this recipe when I lived in Schaumburg, IL. It is a unique, delicious, grilling sauce for pork.

Ingredients
  • Marinade:
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp pepper
  • 8 cloves; finely chopped
  • 4 tsp Accent
  • 1 cup white wine or beer
  • Meat:
  • 4-6 lb pork roast

Directions
  1. Mix the marinade and let stand.
  2. Cut the pork roast into 1-inch pieces (small, so as to increase the grilling surface). Slide onto potatoe stakes.
  3. Marinade the pork skewers for at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Grill, basting often.
  5. The idea is to build up a caramel coating on the outside of the pork.
  6. Serve with your side-dish of choice.

Accent is a trade name here in the US. It MSG, a meat tenderizer and flavor enhancer.


Chicagoans sure do know a thing or two about cooking! This sounds wonderful, thanks so much for sharing. I may not be as generous with the actual food though! LOL!! Yes, I DO realize this is a 4-6 pound roast. LOL!

I believe we have a winner for Superbowl Sunday!


The key to this recipe is keeping the heat on the low side (it's great on a hibachi) so that you can keep basting the meat on the grill. It adds sweetness to the pork. Hope you enjoy it.


The sauce/marinade here sounds fantastic! Will definitely try!

Wow! I feel like I know you rottman - our food tastes (and geographical living haunts) seem to line up. Tx - am going to make this with one more Indiana summer weekend coming up; the grills still open!
