Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oil in a cast iron Dutch oven or other heavy pan.
  • Season chicken with salt and pepper then brown and set aside discarding most of the oil.
  • Brown onion in remaining oil then return chicken to pan and add syrup and sugar.
  • Stir to coat chicken pieces then add stock and ground walnuts and stir to mix.
  • Reduce the cover and cook 30 minutes stirring well and sauce is quite thick.
  • Adjust seasoning with sugar or lemon juice if desired then serve.
