Chicken with Pomegranate Syrup and Walnuts

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil shopping list
- 2 pounds skinless chicken legs and thighs shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- 1 large white onion minced shopping list
- 1/4 cup pomegranate syrup shopping list
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar shopping list
- 2 cups chicken stock shopping list
- 1 cup ground walnuts shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in a cast iron Dutch oven or other heavy pan.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper then brown and set aside discarding most of the oil.
- Brown onion in remaining oil then return chicken to pan and add syrup and sugar.
- Stir to coat chicken pieces then add stock and ground walnuts and stir to mix.
- Reduce the cover and cook 30 minutes stirring well and sauce is quite thick.
- Adjust seasoning with sugar or lemon juice if desired then serve.
