Backyard Shrimp Fest Recipe
Perfect for a pool side dinner or a casual outdoor evening. Serve with a crisp green salad and crusty bread for a full meal.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup "Old Bay" seafood seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 4 quarts water
  • 1 (12 ounce) can beer
  • 8 medium red potatoes, each cut into quarters
  • 2 large sweet onions, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 2 pounds smoked sausage, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 8 ears fresh corn, each broken in half
  • 4 pounds large shrimp, unpeeled
  • melted butter and/or seafood cocktail sauce

Directions
  1. In 8 quart stock pot, bring "Old Bay" seasoning, salt, water and beer to a boil.
  2. Add potatoes and onions and cook over high heat 8 minutes.
  3. Add smoked sausage and cook over high heat 5 minutes.
  4. Add corn and cook 7 minutes.
  5. Add shrimp and cook 4 minutes.
  6. Drain and pour into 1 huge or 2 large bowls.
  7. Sprinkle with additional "Old Bay" seasoning if desired.
  8. Provide empty bowls or pails for shrimp shells.

OK.. been looking for a new recipe for a shrimp boil to try... This is it! On the shrimp, that with or without the heads?


I've always done this with "head-less" shrimp, but the choice is yours.


Having a gathering in a few weeks and I think this is on the menu but I want it NOW! A 5 for me!
