Fudgy Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. plus 2 TBSP. butter (butter only, please!)

1 c. sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs

6 tbsp. cocoa (Dutch-process is excellent in these, but plain is fine, too)

1/2 c. flour (yes, only a 1/2 c.)

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 c. chopped nuts, if desired

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease an 8-inch square pan.

Beat together butter and sugar in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs.

Stir in remaining ingredients until just blended. Do not overmix.

Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 30 - 35 minutes or until tests done. Cool; cut into squares to serve.
