  • 2 cups AP flour
  • 1 cup plus 2 tbsp cake flour
  • 1 11/4 cups butter flavor crisco
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 10 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla butter nut extract

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. grease and flour a tube pan.
  3. sift flour, salt & baking powder 3 times. Set aside
  4. cream butter, butter flavor crisco and sugar at high speed for 10 minutes. This is best done in a Kitchenaid or other stand mixer.
  5. Scrape sides of bowl down and beat for 10 more minutes.
  6. slow mixter down, alternately add eggs and flour. mix well.
  7. add vanilla extracts.
  8. pour batter into prepared pan.
  9. Bake 1 hour 30 mins. or until cake tester comes out clean. Start checking for doneness at 1 hr 15 minutes.
  10. Cool in pan for 10 mins.
  11. remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.
  12. I usually set tube pan on baking sheet just in case of overflow...
  13. Enjoy!

Why 2 different kinds of flour?


Cake flour makes a lighter, more tender crumb. AP flour gives the cake structure. You can use all AP flour, it just doesnt make as fine a texture.
