Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a large bowl, combine Crab Cake Mix and mayo. Add crabmeat and gently toss until well blended. Shape into 24 balls.
  • Fry in batches in hot oil until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve with tartar sauce.
  • My notes: Rather than gently tossing, break the crab meat into fine strands. Fry to a crispy, deep brown color. Serve with tartar sauce, straight up or cocktail sauce. I've hade them with both, and they are delicious.

Rottman! Love the easy idea for crab balls. I never would have thought of using the mix! Good to know the shortcut is a good one. Thanks.

Hahaha!! Funny, I bought the OLD BAY® Crab Cake Classic Mix on a whim one day when I was feeling lazy and my good friend has used this shortcut ever since. He makes crab balls just like this every Sunday for watching football at his house. They are good when you're feeling like some quick crab cakes or balls without all the work.
