- 1/4 tsp pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Start by making up the tomato sauce first.

- Add the tomato paste.
- Put the tomato sauce mixture to the side.
- Place whole head of cabbage in a large kettle filled with boiling water.

- Make sure that the cabbage is completely submerged or it won't be soft enough when you go to peel off the cabbage leaves.
- Remove the softened outer leaves of cabbage.
- Repeat until all large leaves have been removed.

- Cut about 4 inches into the thick center stem of each leave and remove.
- Saute meat with onion about 5 minutes.

- Stir in rice, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.
- Place about 3 tbsp of the meat mixture on each cabbage leaf.
- Roll each leaf, tucking the ends in toward the center.
- Fasten securely with toothpicks.
- Place each roll seam side down in a large skillet or Dutch oven.
- Lay the bacon slices over the top of the cabbage leaves.
- Pour the tomato sauce over the cabbage leaves and bacon.

Let me tell you, this had AWESOME flavor, BUT, there was not enough sauce to stand up to the cook time on these. After about 30 minutes my sauce was gone, left with yummy tomato pieces on top though, and some of my cabbage rolls had burned on bottom...more
