Ingredients

How to make it

  • place salt pork in a large sauce pan and add onions heat till onions are transulant add thebeans and water to cover beans. simmer 1 hour drainand put in bowl. keep the liquid
  • 1 cup of the liquid add to it...mollasses,brown sugar,mustard,and salt...pour over the beans....add enough of the drained liquid to cover beans....put cover on pot
  • put in 300 degrees for 4 hours
  • uncover, add bacon strips and cook uncovered for another hour
  • if they get dry add a little reserved liquid

    Bacon went in early. Haven't tasted a piece of bacon yet. What I have tasted is very very good. Scorched my tongue eating it before cooling.

    Does this recipe double?

    Think I'm getting into a little twist here. Destructions say to saute onion in the bacon or salt pork then add beans and water.

    Later on after 4 hours of baking it says to add the bacon again.

    Where does the bacon get added?
