California Dreamin Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup Sugar

1 cup White Baking Chips; melted & cooled

3/4 cup Butter OR Margarine; softened

1/4 cup Orange Juice

1 tsp. Vanilla

1 Egg

3 1/2 cups Gold Medal All-Purpose Flour

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1 tsp. Grated Orange Peel

1/4 tsp. Salt

About 18 Candy Orange Slices; cut into thirds

Directions

Beat sugar, melted baking chips & butter in lrg. bowl with electric

mixer on med. speed until creamy, or mix with spoon. Beat in orange

juice, vanilla & egg (mixture may appear curdled). Stir in flour,

baking powder, orange peel & salt. Cover & refrigerate about 1 hr. or

until easy to handle.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 1" balls. Place about

2" apart on UNGREASED cookie sheet.

Bake 9-12 mins. or until set (cookies will not brown). Immediately

press orange slice piece into center of each cookie. Cool 2 mins.;

remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

NOTE: I used mini fruit slices instead of orange slice pieces for a

very pretty, colorful look!
