Fig and Walnut Biscotti

- 1 pound dried figs shopping list
- 6 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 3 tablespoons baking powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons anise extract shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 6 large eggs shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 2 stick unsalted butter, melted shopping list
- 1 pound walnuts, chopped shopping list
How to make it
- Line a baking sheet with greased waxed paper.
- Coarse chop the figs.
- Coarse chop the walnut meats.
- Combine in a large mixing bowl.
- Stir in the flour, baking powder, anise extract and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar.
- Add butter and mix well.
- Combine the egg mixture with the flour mixture.
- Shape dough into six 2" logs.
- Refrigerate logs for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bake logs for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven
- Cool 20 minutes.
- Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees F.
- Slice logs on the diagonal.
- Return to oven for 10 minutes.
- Turn cookies.
- Bake 5 to 10 minutes longer.
