Ingredients

How to make it

  • After boiling potatoes, mash all ingredients together, adding more milk if you want your potatoes creamier.
  • Put mixture in well-buttered large, round casserole or 9x13 glass dish.
  • Cover and refrigerate up to 3 days (or bake immediately)
  • When ready to bake, drizzle ½ stick of melted butter over the top of the casserole.
  • Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 35 - 45 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes or until casserole is hot throughout.
  • NOTEL You can be creative with this. The last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle on fried, crumbled bacon and some grated cheddar. Or, for a one dish veggie casserole, place cooked broccoli and cheese sauce on top just before serving. Let me know if you tried any new toppings!

I have been wanting a casserole dish with our homemade chicken tenders. I am thinking about adding some cheddar cheese to the top! Thanks!

I'll make note of this for Christmas.
Our Thanksgiving mashed Yukon gold spuds turned into a starchy mess. It looked like thick wallpaper paste ... It followed the spoon in a string just like mozzarella cheese on a pizza. Luckily we had enough instant mashed potatoes to make in a mad panic.
I'm going back to russets ... and using this recipe ahead of time. Thanks.
