Ingredients
  • vegetable oil to fry
  • 8 portobello mushrooms, stems and gills removed
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dredging
  • 2 cups club soda, or beer
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • sea salt

Directions
  1. Cut mushrooms crosswise into 3/8-inch thick slices.
  2. Lightly dust them with 2 tablespoons flour, set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, club soda, eggs and coarse salt to form batter.
  4. Dip Portobello fries into batter
  5. Fry in hot oil in heavy duty pot or skillet till golden
  6. Drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet.
  7. Season with sea salt and serve immediately

I love new ways to prepare mushrooms and this is great i loved fried mushroom caps and this sound like a awsome eaiser way to eat. always keep these on hand we have a mushroom plant down the road. so there inexpensive but you by them by the case. so you need lots of ways to prepare. they do freeze well raw but sliced .thanks
