Ingredients
  • Cops and JJ
  • December 28, 2008
  • Sometimes I guess reality TV does come into play in real life. Yesterday’s episode was quite interesting, but then I guess my life is just one big event. JJ
  • It was a quiet day in the City- whoops Dragnet.
  • I have a home office and the room faces the street which allows me to watch as cars and people go by and lets me keep an eye on the neighborhood, the eye of JJ is on you.
  • I am sitting at my computer and through the slightly open blinds I see two figures walk by and then in about 5 seconds they go running back by. Now the front of my house has a covered porch the whole length of the house and what the hell are they doing on my property and now running by the window.
  • I am up out of my chair, running down the hallway and out the front door. I look in the direction they ran and see them at the corner of my neighbor’s house. They see me and take off. The chase is on! I get to the corner, my neighbor’s house is the corner house and I don’t see them. I move to the middle of the street so I can see down the street. I walk past the corner house, no one, next is the second house, which I share a garden with, no one still in view.
  • Where are they? Where they in a backyard or one of the neighbor kids now in the house? Hmmmm. I keep watching and at that moment the second neighbor comes around the corner in her car and I motion to her to pull up and stop. I tell her what just happen and I look up and see the two kids of unknown ages come out about 7 houses down and start walking down the street.
  • I open her car door and tell her to step on it, go faster I tell her, go go go. We get to the two and stop and I jump out and tell them HOLD IT. I come around the car and tell them to get on the ground, yea in a very loud voice. Now lay down! Now put your hands behind your backs and don’t move. When you take the oral test for a cop, the question is what is you more power weapon? Gun is not the answer, your voice. Of course if they don’t listen, then shoot’em 
  • What the hell were you doing on my property? With my bad hearing they say “bell banging” What? We come up to homes and ring doorbells then run. Now during all this my neighbor has gone home and called 911, cars are driving by as I stand straddling one of them, with their chins on the asphalt rood. Funny no one stopped to ask what was going on. Nice!
  • I said ‘don’t even think about moving or I will knock you out’. They are saying ‘can’t we just get up and go home’. NO, the police will be here and I have never heard of “bell banging” so you stay where you are. Where do you go school? Christian Brother’s catholic high school. What? What do your think they will think of you doing this type of crap. Trespassing on private property and doing this shit (sorry for the potty mouth but I got to tell it like it was).
  • I am standing over them and said ‘Don’t you ever watch COPS’. NO. What! Everyone watches COPS and if you did you would know criminals aren’t very smart and that’s why they get caught. Couldn’t believe they never watched COPS. Do you play video games? ‘No we don’t like video games. Now what kid about 15 years old doesn’t like or play video games. Come on.
  • I said '"you idiots, you realize you could have been shot! I didn’t know what you were doing or what your intentions were. ‘I’ m sorry sir.’ Sorry! You dumb ass, if I had shot you would be in the morgue and you wouldn’t have to be worrying about being sorry, you would be dead!
  • Ok, where do you live? On the corner of Morse and Marconi. Now on that corner is a big expensive home and they don’t look like they are from that house. You got a cell phone on you? ‘Yes’. OK, call you mother. Hello, I have you kid on the ground and do you live on the corner of Morse and Marconi. What, you have my son on the ground, where are you and I will come and get them. No I am asking if you live… this goes on for a couple of times and I finally say, forget it the police are on the way.
  • See, the neighborhood is real nice, next to a private country club golf course but someone has got into my truck three times and my neighbors storage shed so I don’t take any shit from anyone.
  • They are still saying they are sorry; cars are still driving by and me still standing over kids. One says that was my mom that just drove down Pope Avenue. OK call her cell. He says, She won’t answer because she is driving. Try again. Here come the cops, three cars and a motor bike. Then the mom pulls up behind the cop cars, all excited, and now the father pulls up and stops. The kids are allowed up, I go over to the father and shake his hand and tell him what was going on. I told him I never heard about the bell stuff and furthermore I didn’t what they were doing anyway. He was pissed at his kid and the other was staying overnight with his son. The cops are cool about it; the kids are not having a good day. The one starts to get mouthy and the cop says,’Are you 18? No the kids says. Cop, fine, when your 18 you can talk, shut up.
  • The father is mad and embarrassed for what is going on. They are allowed to take them home, I don’t think they were going to have a great evening, but then again I don’t think they will trespass again. In this world today, one does not know what people are doing but no one screws with my house or neighborhood. Well that was an interesting Sunday afternoon. Remember the old saying, “Screw with bull and you will get the horn”! That was the polite version of the first word .
  • Life goes on. Until another story

Directions
  1. This was posted to alert my GR friends as to one of the things kids are doing and putting themselves at risk. Games sometimes turn deadly. This active is something I have never heard of because I am busy running a business. Hopefully the experience they encounter will have altered their lives and prevent further negative contact with the police. I believe we should all be proactive regarding our neighborhoods, our homes and or neighbors.
  2. We should all give kudos for those officers that put their lives on line every day they go out to protect us. If we all pitch in and be active maybe it will make their day safer.

Sounds like you are trying to keep in shape! haha
I don't think kids think about what they are doing! If they thought it through then maybe more lives would be saved. I try and teach my students to think long and hard before doing stupid pranks or getting involved with friends for you never know what someone else will do! I am glad it was just a prank and these two young men learned a tough lesson(BUT THEY ARE ALIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT!)

Yep with people barging into homes today, not very smart. Just letting them go home without the cops involved would not have been much of a lesson. I knew they would be let go, but they needed a little scaring. Still can't get over they have never watched COPS :-)

Oh That Was Great Stuff...

I really don't see what this has to do with food.

Not much but it makes people aware of whats going on. Just like the people walking around with things to hang on a door. Some are just using that as disguise to check if doors are open and then go in an rob the place. I am proactive in protecting my place, my stuff and my neighbors. So if this post makes people more aware, good for that. I like seeing things once in a while that are interesting or informative.

Wow-JJ...I bet you could easily write a book about your lifes adventures-you have experienced more than most I assume.Looking forward to reading your next installment.Take care and watch out for those bad guys!
Carrie ;)

I think what JJ did was the right thing to do.Our neighborhood has a few teenage thugs roaming around causing trouble, that probably started out as innocent kids.If someone doesn't set them on the straight and narrow path now, they will only get worse.Keep up the good work JJ.We need more people like you looking out for us in this crazy world!

We had two kids handcuffing themselves to everything in site, including our swing set. Since we had already had vandalism and the dog was barking like crazy we decided to do something about. My husband snuck up on them and in a really low loud voice yelled "What are you doing!" The one kid ran and the other was still handcuffed to the swing set. I called the police and when they came - slow night, two squads including the chief having coffee and a snack, they were laughing and couldn't wait to see him. The kid was asked if he would let his friend handcuff him to the overpass and let the semi's swing him a bit or if he was smarter than that (he had been handcuffed to telephone poles and such all along the street.) They cut the handcuffs off and took him home (they also found the other kid.) I figure they had learned something that night that no school can teach them. (And we all had a good laugh.)

When all is said and done:
If you come to someone's page and don't like what you see...just pack your ditty bag and move on. No need for criticism.

There are many, many posts on here that are not food related...but they are life related and this is listed as a social site.

Peace!

Happy 2009 and 'live and let live'.

You never cease to surprise me with your posts, JJ! Picturing you doing this was the best part, and I was just happy there were no horn worms in this one LOL.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year - Glad to know you, life is short.

A couple of kids wait until they get in front of my house to light up cigarettes and even though if it was my kid i would want someone to say something i dont because these days they carry guns and the danger is reversed. lumpy

One time i was driving on a busy 4 lane city street and these kids were playing chicken with my car and i suddenly stopped to yell at them, which they didnt plan on. so the one skinny hiper kid came up with fist clenched as if to punch the window, until my ferocious dog jumped up, which he also didnt expect. then ran in front of cars coming off of the green light. when i was a kid we were taught to respect our elders. lumpy

Its true that people test your security system. i have one neighbor than will come to the door for some insignificant purpose and stand there silently without knocking or ringing until my dog barks. happy new year by the way. holly

Thanks for sharing. JJ

Hey JJ well buddy things are gonna get worse before they get better even in rural towns things happening that never use too. Keep up the good work and enlightening people youre the best hugs momo

A new ploy being used by people breaking into your home. They now park in front of your house and then go in and rob the place. By parking in your drive way it is like they are someone that should be there. Got to watch out for the neighbors.

I gotta tell you, I have spent a LONG time perusing your recipes - SO many keepers.

But JJ my friend, I am disappointed with this one. No pictures? HRUMPH! :) Thanks for the great story, as the mom of 2 teens I can assure you had that been my kids, you would have witnessed me knocking them upside the head all the way to the car.

I would love to have seen this. I bet those kids had wet pants when they were through. As far as the complaint about you posting this, one of the things I love about this site is how social most of us are & I often see stories posted that aren't about food that someone has chosen to share with us & I think it's great. There are many sites out there where you just see a recipe to print & have no clue about the person who posted it. The recipes may be good but the site has nothing else to offer, so lighten up Cliff. I've told so many people about this site & the fun we have at times. That's why I am a member here & not at one of them. Keep up the good work JJ.
