Ingredients
  • 4 Tbs. semi-dry Sake or Mirin
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tbs. Sugar
  • 10 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 Scallions, white and green parts, trimmed and cut into very thin rounds
  • 1 tsp. Red Pepper flakes
  • 4 tsp. Sesame Oil
  • 4 steaks, Rib-Eye or other premium cut, 8 to 10 ounces each

Directions
  1. Put the mirin, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, scallions, pepper flakes and sesame oil in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Put the steaks in a glass baking dish large enough to hold them snuggly in a single layer.
  3. Pour half the marinade over the steaks and turn them a time or two until they are evenly coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and as long as five hours.
  5. Cover the remaining marinade and set it aside.
  6. Remove from the refrigerator 1 hour before cooking.
  7. To cook steaks, prepare a fire in an outdoor grill or heat a stovetop grill.
  8. Grill the steaks until just rare, 4 to 6 minutes per side.
  9. Brush the steaks with the remaining marinade just before turning them and then brush them two or three times as they finish cooking.
  10. Transfer to a warm platter and brush with any marinade that remains.
  11. Cover lightly with foil and let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Yep sounds good, only about 2-3 minutes per side on my flaming meat scorching direct flame stand back look out hot cooking grill. Only the best comes off my grill 365, rain or shine. JJ

Looks like a 5 to me! Thanks...

What a nice marinate - got bring lots of flavor to the meat...I want to try this one soon (do I have to wait for the snow to melt and the grill to show it's lovely black lid again?!?).
