How to make it

  • Brown small cubes of stew beef in vegetable oil over medium heat till juices become a reich brown color. Add 2c water and simmer meat while preparing vegetables.
  • In large soup pot,melt margarine over medium heat. Saute carrots,onions,garlic,celery and mushrooms.
  • Add meat ,6 cups water,bouillon cubes,and barley to the vegetable mixture. Coo till barley is soft. Adjust liquid and seasonings as desired. Remove from heat,and stir in sour cream. Serve immediately.

    mmmm..this would just hit the spot right now. Thanks dear. Gonna send this one to my girlfriend. She just came up with a split pea/barley soup. Hope she will let me post it! She said it turned out really good and would send me the recipe. Have a great night!
