Add Step-by-Step Photos

Wings are baked in the oven and have a peppery bite! Can also use the coating on boneless chicken breasts! This calls for "Italian Style Panko Breadcrumbs"...I didn't know there was such a thing, but, I saw them in my grocery store in the stuffing... More

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Italian-style panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup finely shredded or grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour seasoned with salt and black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 12 whole chicken wings, split at the joint
  • Ranch dressing or other sauce for serving, optional

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil and coat with nonstick spray.
  3. Using 2 shallow plates, combine the bread crumbs, cheese and 2 teaspoons black pepper on one and place the seasoned flour on the other.
  4. Place the beaten eggs in a bowl.
  5. Dredge each chicken wing in the seasoned flour, shake off any excess, dip in the egg mixture and then roll in the bread crumbs -- patting the crumb mixture to adhere.
  6. Set on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Repeat with all the chicken wings.
  8. Spray the chicken wings lightly with nonstick cooking spray.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes or until the wings are cooked through.
  10. Remove from oven and serve with dipping sauce, if desired.

This is how the recipe was originally written. When I made it, I used what I had on hand, which was actually half italian style and half panko. I would think that either or would be just as good.

This sounds and looks wonderful! I also like the fact that these are baked, not fried. Thanks for the share!

Cool....:)
