Caramelized Onion Triangle Puffs

- 2 tbsp butter shopping list
- 3 large onions, chopped shopping list
- 5 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 tsp dried marjoram leaves shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/8 tsp white pepper shopping list
- 1 3-oz pkg low-fat cream cheese, softened shopping list
- 1/2 cup nonfat sour cream shopping list
- 1/4 cup grated romano cheese shopping list
- 32 9 x 14 inch sheets phyllo dough shopping list
- olive oil cooking spray shopping list
How to make it
- In large skillet,melt the butter over medium flame
- add onions.
- Cook and stir until onions start turning golden brown (about 12 - 15 min)
- Add the garlic, marjoram,salt, and pepper. Continue to cook an additional 3 - 4 min.
- Remove from heat and place in large bowl.
- Allow to cool for 30 min
- Add cream cheese, sour cream and Romano cheese; stir to combine
- Place a sheet of phyllo dough on work surface.
- Spray lightly with olive oil spray and top with another sheet.
- Cut into three 3" x 14" strips.
- Place about 2 tsp of the mixture at the base of each strip.
- Fold triangularly as you would fold a flag, alternating from corner to corner.
- Spray with oil and place on baking sheet.
- Repeat this process until all the mixture is used.
- *****At this point, the puffs may be frozen.
- Freeze open on the baking sheet until solid, then pack into hard-walled containers, label, and freeze.
- To bake them, simply place in oven at 375*F from their frozen state.
- To bake immediately after forming, bake at 375*F for 20 - 25 minutes, or until light golden brown.
