Creamed Cabbage From Pennsylvania Dutch Country Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 head of cabbage, shredded

1 heaping Tbl. shortening (ie Crisco)

3 Tbl. sugar

2 Tbl. vinegar

1 Tbl. flour

1 egg

1 c. water

Directions

Place shredded cabbage in pot with a pinch of salt, shortening and enough of water to cover half way.

Cover and cook over medium-high heat until cabbage is soft.

Mix sugar, vinegar, flour, egg and water in small bowl.

Add to cabbage and cook until thick.

NOTE: the amount of sugar and vinegar can be adjusted to meet your individual tastes.
