Creamed Cabbage from Pennsylvania Dutch Country

- 1/2 head of cabbage, shredded shopping list
- 1 heaping Tbl. shortening (ie Crisco) shopping list
- 3 Tbl. sugar shopping list
- 2 Tbl. vinegar shopping list
- 1 Tbl. flour shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 c. water shopping list
How to make it
- Place shredded cabbage in pot with a pinch of salt, shortening and enough of water to cover half way.
- Cover and cook over medium-high heat until cabbage is soft.
- Mix sugar, vinegar, flour, egg and water in small bowl.
- Add to cabbage and cook until thick.
- NOTE: the amount of sugar and vinegar can be adjusted to meet your individual tastes.
