This is a great way to use leftover rice! The bacon salt gives it such an earthy, smokey flavor! The petit peas add a nice fresh touch of sweetness.

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbls. olive oil
  • 2 cups cooked brown rice
  • 1 cup frozen petit peas
  • 1 small onion - chopped
  • 2 large cloves garlic - minced
  • 1 tsp. bacon salt
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Heat olive oil in a large non stick skillet over med/high heat. Add onions, garlic and bacon salt. Saute til onions are well browned.
  2. Then add frozen peas and saute a few minutes til thawed.
  3. Lower heat to the low setting and add cooked rice. Stir often and taste.
  4. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  5. Serve warm.

What a great way to spruce up boring ol' brown rice! Never heard of bacon salt! Sounds interesting...I'll have to keep a look out for it in the spice aisle!


Bacon salt is great! Its actually low sodium and has that great bacon flavor without any of the fat!
The brand I use is called J & D's Natural Bacon Salt. I bought it on the Internet at www.baconsalt.com That site will also tell you what stores sell it.


Looks good. gotta try the bacon salt.
