German Apple Cake for Oktoberfest

  • bakerme 10 years ago
I made this cake German Apple Cake For Oktoberfest as extra dessert for Thanksgiving and we all loved it. The cinnamon in it and cream cheese frosting I used made it taste similar to carrot cake.

Apples and more apples, glad to see another apple recipe reviewed. Bakeme, we (in this group) have found it helpful to add the date and a link back to this review in your comment on the recipe page.

Do you have a link to the cream cheese frosting you used? There are 3 pages of them here at GR.

Lovebreezy, I added the link and date you mentioned.

Pointsevenout, I used my own recipe that I also use on carrot cake:

one 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
    1/2 C. (1 stick) butter, softened
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 C. powdered sugar, sifted

In a large mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter. Add vanilla and powdered sugar and beat until smooth and of spreading consistency. Add a few drops of milk, if needed. Spread frosting evenly over top of cooled cake.

Thanks, NPMarie. I didn't know what Lovebreezy was talking about with adding the date and link to the group in my review so just edited it to say I added a post here and the date I added it.

These IMI strings do a good job of tracking when the comments were made. The recipe strings, not so much. So we have been dating the recipe strings when we make the recipe so one can tell when the recipe was made and reviewed. And linking from the recipe back to this IMI string helps the IMI string from getting lost in the hundreds of pages of IMI strings. Which also helps redundancy of people starting a new string on a recipe that has one started already (helps hold down the page count in IMI).

Do a copy and paste from this string onto your review in the recipes just like you did from the recipe to this string. NPMarie did it for you on this recipe already. But you can handle it in future posts, I'm confident.

And there will be more posts from you to this IMI group won't there. Welcome to the family.

Pointsevenout, I'm afraid you give me more credit than is deserved. I know very little about technology and I'm lucky I got done what I did!

Bakerme thanks for trying. I'm not always the best explainer but thanks to the other kind folks here we got the job done and hope you understand now what I was trying to say. Thanks also for sharing your frosting recipe.
Did you take a photo of your cake?

You explained it just fine, Lovebreezy, but it doesn't compute in my tiny little brain. Technology is hard for me to work, so I will have to fumble my way through posting another review. Sorry, no pictures of the cake, we were too busy eating it.
