I'm dying to know more about that fig pie!!! I don't even like fig but that pie looks and sounds amazing! Did you leave out the instant exspresso AND to coffee liquor? I don't see the fig...is it a noticeable fig taste?

Oh, don't leave me hanging!!! LOL!

I wonder if I could sub dates for the figs? Or will that be too sweet?

I was getting there, Lillian. So much has happened here since I last visited, I wanted to check out first what everyone else posted! LOL.
No, it's not a noticeable fig taste, the chocolate sauce blends in with it and you are just tasting fruit. However, if you don't like figs, I think you might still taste something. I totally left out the coffee, I subbed coffee liqueur with orange liqueur which went great with chocolate. I truly don't know why the coffee was introduced to the recipe in the first place, it seems like an unnecessary layer of flavor to me. I also melted the chocolate together with heavy cream on low heat while making the sauce, otherwise it wasn't going to melt. That worked fine and the sauce came out rich and velvety. The problem is, it makes way too much sauce for that recipe. I guesse I could use it for ice cream topping, or anywhere else I need chocolate sauce. Overall, it was a very interesting pie recipe. All her recipes are unusual and I'll be trying more of them.

LOL! Sorry...I didn't mean to rush you!

I may have to try that for a gathering! Maybe I should leave the coffee in the recipe. That might mask the fig flavor a little more! Thanks for the info on the topping...maybe I'll make less of that.

Lillian, dates sound like a great substitution for that recipe! You don't see figs, because as they cooked, I mashed them a little. You would really need about 1/3 of the sauce for that pie, unless you can think of another use for it.

How is it possible. I'd be putting chocolate sauce on everything for a week. LOL

Yeah, I still have a container of it in the fridge. it's good on ice cream when warmed up. Thinking about freezing the rest of it for now.

She posted a recipe for a dip and I mentioned that my kids make one just like it all the time but that I preferred it a little more bitter - then BANG, I'm done the next day, so naturally I thought that was it.

This is such a long string, and for those of you whom are blocked, I had to go get the recipe for you:

    Ingredients:

    1 Stick of butter,unsalted(no sub.please,just real butter)
    1/4 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed
    6 Tablespoons corn syrup
    2 Cups figs,dried,and quartered
    2 Cups walnuts,chopped coarsely
    1/4 Cup heavy cream
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1 Crumb Crust
    For Creamy Sauce:
    1/2 Cup brown sugar,firmly packed
    2 Tablespoons corn syrup
2 -1/2 Tablespoons instant espresso powder
    1-1/2 Tablespoons butter,unsalted
    3 oz unsweetened chocolate,chopped
    1/2 Cup heavy cream
    1-1/2 Tablespoons coffee liqueur
Combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, espresso powder, and butter in pan, bring mixture to boil, and continue to boil(watching, stirring) for about 1 to 1/2 minutes.Remove the pan from heat and stir in the chocolate, and heavy cream, stir until chocolate melts and sauce is smooth.Pour sauce through a fine mesh strainer into container. Stir in coffee liqueur, cool, cover, refrigerate.Reheat sauce before serving with slices of pie.
    How to make it

    For Pie:
Combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in pan.
    Bring to boil.
Boil mixture for about 1-1/2 minutes.
Stir in the figs, walnuts, heavy cream, and cinnamon.
    Bring back to boil.
Reduce heat to simmer and cook for about 5 minutes.
Fill the crumb crust with hot fig mixture.
    Cool.
Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until completely set, about 4 hours.
Top each slice with the Creamy Sauce
