    Moons Over My Hammy
I just noticed I seem to be on a grilled sandwich kick! :)
I found this by doing an ingredient search using eggs, cheese and ham then filtering it to the sandwich category. I don't know where this funny title came from or what "copycat" recipe Markie is referring to. And, unfortunately, Marky is no longer with us for me to ask her.
I used a large skillet instead of two medium ones and browned the ham while the eggs cooked. I peppered my eggs and only slightly salted them due to the Swiss and ham. Used cheddar as I don't keep American in the house. This was a great, quick dinner for me. I loved it.
Thanks, Marky. RIP Still lovin' the Patsy avatar.

If it wasn't for kids taste buds around here, I would NEVER have American cheese in my fridge...your scrambled eggs look perfectly fluffy!

I'm not a fan of American cheese either..isn't that what Velveeta is? Anyway, I just love your picture..the scrambled eggs do look perfectly fluffy! :)

Oh goodness....that's a nice looking sandwich (and picture) Frankieanne! Grilled sandwiches rock.
I could be wrong but I think the "Moons over my Hammy" comes from "Denny's" restaurants.
Did you use two eggs and four slices of cheese for one sandwich, and if so, would it have been a big deal to cut it back to one egg and two slices of cheese? Guess it just wouldn't be so decadent that way but four slices of cheese for one sandwich just seems so excessive!
As Michelle says...those are very nice fluffy looking scrambled eggs. :)

It looks Absolutely Fabulous, Frankie:) I make something like this all the time for my HB and he just adores it:) I am not sure what you guys are calling American Cheese either? Is it soft too mild or what?
I am sorry to hear about Marky, I did not know:(
I always enjoyed her avatar and great posts.

Maybe it is from Denny's, Chuckie. We have a Denny's here in Ukiah but I think I've only been there four times total. I edited my comments to say that I did only use one slice of each cheese. Two would just have been way too much for me. Excessive is a good word to use! I think this is what people refer to as "hangover food." :-D
American cheese is orange and has a really rubbery texture to it, G4U, and its very shiny. It melts really nicely but it just looks too "fake" to me. But, lots of other cheeses melt nicely so I don't really get the appeal. Kids like it, for some reason. But - to me - its too much like Velveeta. Its just not proper cheese! Seems kinda un-American to not like American cheese, but there you go! :)
Marky also posted this fabulous salad.
    Classic Maurice Salad
I've made it a few times. I love the dressing. I found a bottle of onion juice on eBay, of all places, and bought it just so I could make that salad!

Thanks Frankie, that is good to know:) I remember my Dad saying something like that about American cheese, quite a long time ago. I guess we are lucky here as Canadian Cheeses are world renown and not soft and rubbery like that at all. Give me a chunk of good old aged Canadian Cheddar to munch on or cook with anytime. That salad looks awesome minus the gherkin as I don't care for sweet pickles but I bet it would be good if I used a small dill pickle in it instead. I don't buy onion juice anymore. I just throw an onion in a small handy food processor. Then strain the juice out to use and keep all the onion bits to use for something else. It is much cheaper for me that way.

Unfortunately, for me, many of the other cheeses aren't available locally. We have your basic colbys, mozzarellas, american, cheddar and a few other common ones. I know many cooks avert their eyes when passing the Velveeta in the shopping market, but it's normal stock for us. We like the flavor and the way it melts. It's something I just can't find with our other cheese selections here.

Milk, water, milkfat, whey, milk protein concentrate, whey protein concentrate, sodium phosphate; contains less than 2% of: salt, calcium phosphate, lactic acid, sorbic acid as a preservative, sodium alginate, sodium citrate, enzymes, apocarotenal (color), annatto (color), and cheese culture.[4]

Duboo, Maybe this might help you? Homemade Velveeta Cheese There are many easy recipes for homemade cheese in here.
Just search for Homemade Cheese. It amazes me sometime how many neat things you can find in GR:)
Here is another variation of it I found as well.
    http://www.momables.com/momveeta-i-cant-believe-its-not-block-cheese/
Also if you do decide to make the one from GR. If you have never used gelatin powder before. I would suggest searching what to do with it, as sometimes it can be quite tricky depending on what type you choose to use.
    I hope this helps you:)

Thanks Mom:) LOL I don't care for cheese singles anymore b/c they taste like fake cheese to me. I loved them when I was a kid though and I don't do Velveeta anymore either! I have noticed Velveeta cheese has become very expensive here. Actually when I do notice here it isn't exactly in with all the other cheeses in the grocery store it seems mixed in with other packed party cheeses and near the Crescent Rolls and that sort of stuff?
