Hi, No holiday weekend here but a relaxing time --- Out to dinner with friends tomorrow so night off --- No shopping today -- hooray!!! Playtime and walkies with a stop at the local bar -- hic, hic, hic. Good luck with your househunting -- not the best weekend hobby -- we had 7 houses in 14 years at one point due to my work at one time. What makes your dogs skittish? --- The diva's not bad but goes wild when visitors come in -- she thinks they are here only for her.
    Tonight, a wee treat --
Creamy Pancetta, Pea And Asparagus Risotto
    Have a great day. cheers

Good Morning Tina! Good Afternoon Don!
I'm really hoping that guy did actually find homes for all those cats Karen! Hope the funeral went okay yesterday.
Joce, we're going to Taiwan for a month this time. I'm going to miss the end of Oct. here in Canada. My favourite time of year. But it'll be cool to be in Taipei for Halloween. :) Wishing Den safe travels. That's a BIG wedding! Too bad you aren't joining him but I hope you have some nice relaxing me- time on your own.
That Tandoori chicken of yours has my mouth watering Shona! How was it?
Good for Michael going for a work out when he's worked nights Michelle! You've got the first week of school under your belt now! Was Caiden's mouth totally okay yesterday then? Good for him.
Cheerios chicken burgers sound interesting Don! You had a busy day yesterday! Your risotto for this evening sounds awesome.
That's great you got all your grocery shopping done Marie and now you can relax a tad over the weekend. How's Rick's schedule looking?
Turkey today then Tina? Good luck with the house hunting. It's been fun watching all the places you've been considering on FB.
I saw that you went running again this morning too Laurie! I really admire your fortitude I really do.
Jim and I had an awesome day yesterday. Lunch at Ahora's was excellent. I had the Steak Tostada salad again and Jim had a chicken burrito. Everything was fresh, fresh, fresh and they have an amazing Salsa bar with all the fixings made up to ladle on.
The Alex Colville Exhibit was stunning. I saw so many things and learned so much I'm still on a high. :)
Off in a sec to a Dr.'s appnt. for Jim. Gonna grab brekkie at McD's afterwards and then home.
    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi all.

Tina, good luck on house hunting. We have moved 11 times the first 31 years, and bought 3 houses. This one is for keeps. We have live here for 17 years and do not plan on moving EVER! For the first 5 or 10 years I felt the urge to start packing since it MUST be time to move. guess if anything happened to Wayne, I might consider it, but would insist on certain amenities (2 bathrooms, 3 BR or 2 with den, rural setting, etc.) so that would vastly limit my choices. Turkey sounds good - we have one in the freezer and I should think about getting it out to thaw when the temperature drops below 90F again!

Don, the Diva (is that her real name?) is adorable. A friend had one that looked a lot like her and sounded just as energetic! She was stolen last summer. He still misses her. Our 12 year old Aussie Shepherd mix died this summer and he is also missed. Maybe this fall we will look for an older, quiet, housebroken, mid-sized dog that needs new owners, maybe.........

Janet, the funeral went well, if any funeral can be said to "go well." The death was sudden and unexpected, even tho she had not been in good health for some time. Their faith helped. and several of the family commented that she was "in a better place." There was a reception afterward at the church she attended. I only knew a few of her relatives, most lived out of state.
Living in Taipei for a month sounds awesome. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.
I guess I better scoot. Have to meet my daughter in a bit. She has to have her cat put down - he is closing in on 19 years old and has deteriorated badly. Not a pleasant task.

Have a good day, everyone. See you later.

I can't even possibly think of moving 11 times in 31 years Karen. You'd become a pro at it after that though I'm sure! That'd be lovely if you adopted an older dog. Frankieanne from IMI does that a lot and they're treasures. A win win for both parties I think! I will admit to having a very matter of fact attitude towards death. We're not going to avoid it and I personally think we can only hope to go as quick and painlessly with as much grace as we can. I was chatting to some cousins online last night. It was the anniversary of one of my Uncle's deaths and one of the cousins said "May those who have passed be resting in peace". I thought about that for a bit, and then I thought "I don't want to rest in peace when I'm dead". I want to have fun! Resting is boring. :) Next topic. :) Feel very bad for your daughter today. That is the very worst part about owning a pet.
We had a good run into town. Jim's appointment went well and breakfast at McDonald's was good EXCEPT that they gave me a Sausage McMuffin instead of a Sausage McMuffin with egg. Argh. That's the second time I've had that happen to me. Grumble, grumble. We picked up the ton of home movies and videos that we had a local guy transfer on to DVD and back up for us which was fun. We had a little shop at Farm Boy and I found two small salmon steaks on sale so have decided to do Cedar Planked Salmon for dinner this evening. Hardware store and Bulk Barn (they are starting to get their Halloween stuff in. Yay! Picked up a fun Sugar skull cookie for a friend who loves Sugar skulls).
    Making up a batch of
    Gazpacho
as we speak and will marinate some oranges in brandy for a batch of Sangria for later. :)

    Oooh, I want gazpacho.
Janet, I prefer to remember hearing Fred say in my head. "I'm having an awesome afterlife." I wish I were more matter of fact. I'm excited for your trip. Planked salmon would be great.

Karen, there are a lot of mature dogs looking for a furever home. I'm sorry for your daughter. She will want her mom.

Don, There was some distant thunder and my dogs don't like thunder. And they don't like a change in routine. They are spoiled. Love Diva.

No, turkey today. It will be tomorrow. I have the open house list set for Sunday.
I was supposed to go to Denise''s for the wine party. I can't go, my legs are not cooperating. Feet are numb and driving is out of the question. I'm sad.

Hi! Good luck house hunting Tina! Not too much planned for this weekend. Caiden has T-ball practice tomorrow and then the Union is throwing a big party, with jumpy houses, food and booze, but we are still deciding if we are going to go. Sunday and Monday will just be relax days :) Do you have any plans besides house hunting?

That's great you get a night off from cooking tomorrow Don :) Have a drink for me at the bar today! Yum on your dinner, sounds delish!

Hi Jaent, yeah, Caidne complained a little when he got home from school about his mouth, but then didn't say another word about it, so I think he's good :) Your lunch yesterday sounds super good, I would love the salsa bar! So glad you enjoyed the exhibit too! Wow you got a lot done already today...woohoo I'm with you on the Halloween stuff, I LOVE Halloween, which reminds me, I need to go up int the attic and pull all of my stuff down.

Karen, glad the funeral “went well”, it's really hard to think of a different way to say that. Aww so sorry about your daughters cat :(

Getting ready to wake up Michael so we can head to the gym. We are looking into buying a used treadmill so we can cancel the gym membership. I already have weights and kettle bells, so then I'd be set and we would save a bunch of money. When I went to Central Market (by Trader Joe's) a couple months ago they had fresh lamb sausages with mint. YUM! I pulled those out and am going to make Bangers And Mash but the mash will be sweet potato mash. I am actually still unsure how much I like lamb, and it's been forever since I've had it, so we will see how it goes, I”m sure it will be delicious :) Brussel sprouts to go with. Michael just got up, gotta run, have a great day everyone!!

Read your IMI review of the Tandoori chicken recipe Shona and as I said there....I'm so going to try that recipe out! Hope your computer glitch is now all fixed. :)
I love that Fred told you he was having an awesome afterlife Tina! Oh no on you missing that fun foodie wine party! :( Boo.
Hi Marie! Your dinner sounds delicious.
That Union party sounds like it would be a fun time Michelle! Jim and I bought a very good quality treadmill quite a few years ago now and it still works like a dream. (That is WHEN we use it) LOLOLOL. But it is a super good investment. I highly recommend them. Those lamb sausages sound amazing. I'm not a huge sweet potato fan but I bet the sweet potato mash would be quite good. I like sweet potato fries and I like sweet potato in sushi. That's it. :)
Your gazpacho recipe is VERY similar to mine Don. I use Red wine vinegar instead of Sherry. And I use 2 cups of chopped tomatoes in addition to 2'ish cups of tomato juice and also a chopped Jalopeno pepper and 4 shots of Tabasco. Ya baby! :)

    Hi All
Off to the public market this morning to stock up on the fresh and unusual. Last night we went to GPH for happy hour and ended up staying for supper - excellent fish! Saturday is a busy day in the city so it should be fun. House hunting is always a stress - we had 8 places in 12 years when we started out so I am not keen on moving more than I have to now.
    Gotta run

Hope you open house goes well on Sunday Tina. Yum on your turkey for tomorrow :) Hope your legs start to feel better :(

Crockpot Chicken Taco Chili looks so good Marie, can't wait to see your review and picture! I may put that recipe on my list for next week, it's been a while since I've made chili, or tacos!

That gazpacho recipe looks delicious Don!

Sorry for spelling your name wrong earlier Janet, trying to type too fast I guess lol. I would really like a treadmill like they have at the gym, but we looked them up and they are $5000 a pop, yikes!

Done working out yay, the kids should be home any minute, so then it will be homework time, gotta run, have a good evening!

And Don....your mention on how we lead more exciting lives than you....I beg to differ! Between you walking the sunny sandy beaches of Spain periodically popping in the bar for a refreshment and Miss Michelle B. there suntanning and marketing in tropical Fiji, well....I think you two win the prize. Jus' sayin'. :)
Tell us all the fun things you find Michelle B! Yum on the fish.
I didn't even see that you spelled my name wrong Michelle and even if I had I certainly wouldn't have taken offense. :) Ugh on having to do home work on Friday night. Blah.
I'm baffed. Was up at 6 and I'm quickly tiring out.
Gotta go prep the salmon. Gonna make a baked potato to share and cut up some beefsteak tomato that I just picked from the garden.
    Kimmer....miss ya' GF. Sleep sweet.
    Night all.

GMTA, my gazpacho is similar to Don's and Janet's. Just a bit more heat for me.

Marie, Crockpot chicken taco chili screams comfort. I'm not so sad I didn't go after all. We have had some severe thunder and Molly alone, she would have destroyed something. She is stuck like glue to my leg. Lola was sitting on my head with her front paws covering my ears. If I knew how to take a selfie, it would be cute.

Michelleb, honey making moves across continents is most daunting. I do hope you are settled for awhile. Hearing how many times everyone has moved, I'm a neophyte.

Michelle, I don't have any plans other than dog sitting and house hunting. Liv is working double shifts. Wow, those treadmills are expensive. I understand the concern about saving money. I just gave Olivia 10 ballet barre workouts. She likes them to tighten up tummies and arms. The Union party sounds fun.

Shona, sorry the computer was giving you fits. The Tandoori chicken sounds delicious.

Janet, I know you must be getting excited. Halloween decorations coming out in stores? I love fall too. Ir is my favorite season. Apples and cider.

I've got to fill some waterbowls, Charlie is rattling his bowl on the floor.

    Hello all
Frank and the girls went out to dinner but I didn't feel up to it. Having a little flare up everything is hurting so I had cereal and I'm currently soaking in a hot Epsom salt bath.
We got our treadmill from Amazon a few years back and it was under $500 dollars. It's not exactly like a gym quality but those things are huge. Has different workouts and you can test your heart rate.
Definitely Don and Michelle are leading exciting lives and I already said I wanted to be Janet when I retire.

It's brrrrrr, so cold here! We might even get snow overnight! The good thing about the cold is I can bake, cook in the oven and make comfort foods, yay! I plan on making a lasagna tomorrow. I have to do some house-fix-its this weekend, that I put off this summer.
I found out the computer problem was from my son downloading a game this morning, which stayed downloading all day until he came home from school! He uses the computer in the loft (that I never go into) Lol, at least I know now my computer isn't broken, geez!
    Goodluck on house hunting Tina!
Oh gosh, I think I have mentioned how many times I've moved, 35 houses in 39 years! 21 towns/cities, and 3 provinces! The last 4 being what we've owned in our adult life (my son has lived in 10 houses in his 13 years!)

You are far ahead of me in moving, Shona. LOL! I forgot Illinois (once in Mt. Morris and twice in Chicago), Indiana, Massachusetts, and Buffalo, N.Y. - that makes 17 times (I think) in the 48 years we have been married. We also lived in Michigan, New Jersey and Georgia, before we settled in Missouri, in Germany for a few years, and did travel in Europe and visited once or twice in Mexico. Confused? ! We lived in each one anywhere from 3 months (shortest) to 17 years (current and last). I think by now I pack as well as the movers.

I am happy here. No desire to move! Loved traveling to Texas for the church convocation, but am not sure about Anaheim, California next year. I HATE flying and it is too far to drive. We are going to Illinois to pick up Wayne's sister for a visit (gee, not QUITE as exciting as Taipei, Janet - ha ha.

Everyone's dinner sounds good. We went to the Edgar Springs Market for their Friday catfish special. Well, I did. Wayne had a burger. He does not eat catfish. Or most any fish if he had help it.

We no sooner got home and walked in the door than the fire radio went off. We had a medical call - stroke victim. A helicopter medical transport service flew her out, so we had to stay to direct them. It was easy in the daytime - can be a real bear at night.

I guess my life is pretty calm. We do travel a little, but not as much now that we are older. Even the horses are old and retired. Ha!

GS buried the cat next to Homer. He will be missed. He was a special cat. The vet had told her he would not make his 2nd birthday, and he lived until 19.

Well, it is getting late and I need to get a shower before heading for bed. Tomorrow will be busy - baling hay for Wayne's buddy. Should have about 90 to 100 medium sized bales, maybe! I doubt I will have to drive the truck, but would like to have munchies ready for the crew.

See you later. Have a nice evening.
