    Morning all,
long day for me. of course I couldn't sleep last night.
It is going to be whole chicken in a crockpot, so we can have it when I get home from work.
Becca and I had a talk about her thyroid issure. she keeps gaining weight even though they say her levels are normal. She has gained 20 pounds in less than a year! Her neck is still swollen. I said maybe it is something she is eating that makes it swell more than other days. Becca said she wants to try a Gluten Free diet for a week to see if that makes her feel better. Wish us luck!
Picture is of frank and becca when we went to Portsmouth.

Good Morning Everyone! Laurie, that's a lovely picture of your Husband and Daughter. She's a cutie. Your chicken sounds yummy. I'm contemplating chicken myself but haven't quite decided. With Benjamin not here to help eat up all the vegetables that are pouring in from both our garden and our farm box delivery we are starting to get over-run. I think a broccoli casserole is in order though so I'll work around that.
It's going to go back to rain for us here today. I need to do a good housecleaning this morning and call my Mom. And then I received a call last night from an old high school chum who's in town and is going to pop by for a visit early this afternoon. Very fun. Haven't seen her in a few years.
Can the Doctor's not tell what is causing Becca's swollen neck? There's got to be a reason. Have they tested her for anything other than Thyroid problems?

    Good Morning!
Laurie, hope your day goes well. Maybe the gluten-free will be good for Becca. My daughter has has trouble with her stomach on and off for years. Certain things she eats and drinks bother her. I talked to her about wheat, gluten allergies. My Dad had wheat allergies. She may persue glutin, wheat free diet. Good luck with it.
Cloudy here this morning but no rain till after dark.Think tomorrow is rainy daday so will go to outlets on the other side of the mountain and Prime Rib dinner tomorrow night at a place that has very good ones.
Today, will go to a restaurant with big bat and lots of TV's,have apps and some beer(it is attached to it's own brewery) and probably burgers for dinner.

Becca was Diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease in April. We noticed her neck swollen around christmas time. Her thyroid is inflamed according to the specialist at children's due to acute thyroiditis. hashimoto is basically an autoammune disease where your own antibodies attack and kill the thyroid. According to all tests though her "levels" are normal so he won't put her on medication. After the last visit we had another ultrasound and he consulted with his colegues and they agreed no medication was needed yet but they did notice that her lymph nodes where swollen and reccommended motrin. She is ten. Why are they swollen? she is due for her physical with her regular pediatrician in Oct. at that time her doctor is going to react to such a significant weight gain because she had gained 10 pounds at last years physical and she was upset. I am going to ask for a referral for a second opinion.

    Good Morning Everyone!
Ang, I just read yesterday's thread, thank you for the tribute, even if I'm a day late seeing it! I was working in the office of a church at the time. (My very favorite job EVER...too bad the pay was sooo low that I couldn't stay). We sat upstairs in the youth dept and watched the 2nd tower come down...watched the news up there off and on all day. Opened the sanctuary for people to come in and pray if they wanted to, and I had to stop production of the weekely newsletter/bulletin so the pastor could write a note addressing what had happened. Fielded calls all day about 2 members that were travelling...one in NY and one in Washington! One of my best friends is in the Guard and had a full time job at the local base. He had to dress in ratty tshirts and jeans, anything that would make him look like he was NOT in the military! and take a different, random route to work every day, for security purposes, he put in some really long hours for weeks.
Tailgate party was a success, and then went to friends' house on the lake for BBQ last night.
Have steaks and shrimp that will go on the grill tonite, and definately a salad, have lots of romaine I need to use before it goes bad. Not sure what else, or how I"m going to do the steaks. Mother Hubbards Cupboard is completely bare, so I have to go buy groceries soon. UGH.
Laurie, sorry that she is still having trouble. I am with you on the 2nd opinion!! There is a REASON it is swelling, and it needs to be addressed! Doesn't sound like the kind of swelling that an anti-inflammatory will take care of.
Pat it sounds like you are having a wonderful trip!! Can't wait to see pix!
    Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Kitchen's clean and dishwasher's on from the mess the night before. Kept moving around an extra baked potato as I cleaned due to limited counter top space. All's clean but there's that potato! So I ate it! Why didn't I think of that before moving it umpteen times?
Dew is still up on the grass, so I can take a little nap to digest the potato and let the dew evaporate. I like any plan that involves some nap time.

    Hi Wynne!!!
Think this is what I think I will do with the steaks
Growlin Good Steaks With Mustard Butter
Some garlic/citrus glaze for the shrimp, and probably throw some potatoes on the grill.
Off to the grocery store. Just how I want to spend my Sunday. lol Maybe I will get back in time to watch some football!!

What a sweet picture Laurie. I bet they will both treasure that one. Trying out new diets can be fun. A real learning experience. Thinking of that reminded me of a a community project Barilla started called Share the Table.
    http://www.barillaus.com/Pages/Share-The-Table-Landing.aspx

The idea of it is how family/friends can build closer relationships through making mealtimes more meaningful. They also have a a free download that looks interesting called The Celebrity Pasta Lover's Cookbook ( http://www.barillaus.com/Pages/Share-The-Table-Landing.aspx ). Not a gluten free moment but thought I would share.

I got burger and steaks out of the freezer when we got home from vacation last night. While serving me a Sunday EggAMuffin, Mr. SuchAFuss informed me that we will finish off vacation with a trip to Urban Flats for dinner tonight.

Your day today sounds fun Pat. My girlfriend just left. Sure fun to see her. Have changed my menu to Rouladen and Spatzle with Broccoli Casserole on the side. It's cool out and this will be just the ticket. That Crockpot Chicken recipe sounds really good Laurie. I bookmarked it. Indeed it sounds like a second opinion would be a great idea for Becca. So scary when your own child has to deal with such issues. Your steak and shrimp sound amazing Lori. I bookmarked that Steak marinade recipe too. Nice to hear your tailgate party went well. Hi Points. Your ham and corn on the cob sound very yummy Wynne but I've never been a fan of sweet potatoes. Just can't do it. Hey Laura! How was the vacation? What is Urban Flats? Is that a restaurant? If so, I'd be saying 'yes' very quickly.

I didn't think I liked sweet potatoes, either. I tried sweet potato fries on our trip to
Florida and I have been eating them ever since. I think I like them fried in some way. Still don't think I could eat a sweet potato casserole. You know the one with the marshmallows on top? *shudder...no

Have some steaks he bought yesterday for dinner tonight with roasted brussel sprouts and maybe I'll try to fry these sweet potatoes again. All out of regular potatoes.

Im not a sweet potato fan, either, Janet! Thought I was the only one. : )
Laura that sounds like the perfect way to end up your vacation!! Can't wait to hear about your trip.
Lazy day around here. Bryan is snoring on the couch, and I'm sitting here with my head nodding...lol. Sunny and breezy outside...I should be out there enjoying it. I think we may eat on the deck tonite.
Maybe I will go in here and see about making some dessert. Bought some turtle sundae ice cream at the store, which I rarely do....and got home without it! UGH. I just hate to do that. But, it's not worth the 60 miles round trip to retrieve it. : ( Oh well...guess we didn't need it anyway.

Lori if it was me I would at least call the store and talk to a manager about getting a credit for one next time I am there. Surely they know there is an ice cream that got left behind. Unless they put it in the next person's bag that is. :O

Perhaps I could taste test a sweet potato fry. Maybe. Can't do Brussel Sprouts either actually. Hilariously amusing how anti-vegetable I really am and how my son turned out. LOL. However....the Steak and fries sounds yummy Ang. And I'm envying you your 'sunny and breezy' Lori. Cool, damp, wet, cloudy and rainy are the descriptive words here on my end. Good idea about calling the Grocery store re: the missing ice cream. I wouldn't have thought of doing that but I bet you're absolutely right Ang that they'd know that had happened. Yesterday Jim and I were in a Grocery store and I bought one bun, one jalopeno pepper and a carton of orange juice. As we were leaving the cash from paying I asked Jim if he had the pepper as I hadn't grabbed it and he said "No, I thought you had it" so we went back and the cashier had started putting through the next customer and sure enough, there was our little lone jalopeno pepper still on the conveyor belt back with the other person's order. So we mentioned that that was our pepper and the cashier smiled, grabbed it and threw it in my purse. "There" she says "Have a good day". What a laugh.

Bryan let his daughter get the ice cream. She lives in the town where we have to go to shop. Left the ice cream and cottage cheese. oh well. : ( Sad thing is the lady behind the register told me Yes when I looked around and asked if I had all my bags!

As the sun surly slides slowly below the sculptured skyline, the neatly trimmed grass throws slim silhouettes as far as they're able. Lawnmower man stands proudly surveying the day's work, knowing another week will pass when the battle begins again.
Fatigued and hungry he eats a half quart of canned peaches which only inflames his appetite. Thirty minutes later a pot of cheesy rice douses his dining desires.
A delightful day for doing his deeds and looking forward to a relatively chilly night with the windows cast open, he knows tomorrow he will be fitted with a new hat and become, once again, pruner man.
