Let's PARTY!

  • krumkake 16 years ago
OK, I got this thing rolling, and I can't wait to hear from others who like to tailgate...I'd love to hear what YOU do - how you arrange it, what you serve, what's worked and what hasn't. Whether you party in your home, your backyard, in the neighborhood or in your favorite sports arena's parking lot, I hope to hear from you! I'll be posting more recipes (including the ones I included on the menu in "Everything You Need to Host a Tailgate" post). Let's have some fun!!

Hey Shirley and Dixiejet, thanks for joining in. Heck, I've only been to one or two games - I just go for the food and beverages!!! Most of us "non-males" prefer to stay behind and guard the tables - it's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it...

Okay. . .I am one of those weird females that *loves* football and was actually upset with my husband for not wanting to watch a pregame Seahawks game today. It's okay, they lost BIG and now I am already calling them the Sea Squaks. I have been working tons but I do have a few recipes up my sleeve. I am digging. My nachos are probably wayyyy to messy but WoW! are they good. Cookies. . . I go big and chocolatey. I am a female . . .they are for me, not them. Okay, I share but I don't want to hear any complaints from them unless they want to start bringing their own. By the way Krumkake, the tailgating list you put on the site is amazing and fabulous material. How in the world were you able to compile that list. I would have had to have a note pad and take everything out of boxes to know what to submit for that list. Your the best. Thank you!

Thanks, everyone, for the enthusiastic kick off of this group! I know I'll come across a ton of new recipes for this sports season!! Any of you who may have tailgated in the past, I would LOVE to hear about your experience - I'm always curious what others are doing! We have not been able to tailgate for the past 2 years, but hope to break that dry spell this fall...I am always absolutely amazed when I see the set-ups some "fans" have - wow!!! Their gear looks like it costs more than our car!

Great group, let's get our party on! (Go Dolphins! Go Gators!) Okay, I'm a Tampa Bay traitor by all standards, except for Coach Dungy. Now he is a class act.

Now where did I file the Nut trio mix that always gets gobbled up? Hmmm. I"ll be back.

Paprika, I'm anxiously awaiting your posts - I know you have some great recipes! Keep cheering on those Vikes - they always seem to thrill us in the beginning, then go steadily downhill...my husband is in the sunroom shouting at Rick Grossman tonight - ahhhhh, football season has arrived!!!

Ok, from someone - like ME - that doesn't know squat about Nascar races, WHAT is Talladega?!?!?!? If it involves tailgating, I'm there!!

    Krum,
It's where one of the races is held in Florida.
That's all I can add about that, as I am not a race fan at all and barely football or baseball. Sports of all kinds are pretty much lost on me. Just not interested. I do, however, usually go with Hubby when he goes somewhere to watch a game with the guys...and eat. The girls talk, the guys watch.
We have some really good food on game days so I won't complain about that. The guys deep fry wings in front of the garage, doing a lot of chest thumping as they cook, and the girls enjoy not having so much to do.
Tailgating in the den is fun!

thepiggs, I'm with you 100%! I couldn't tell you the difference between a tight end and a running back, but I love the time with family and friends, and all the good food - guys do like that "chest thumping" thing, don't they?!?

As far as I can tell the "chest thumping" thing is a gene that is already there. Both my grandsons do it and they don't have any male role models to follow. They just started doing it. Maybe they're picking it up in school. LOL "Chest Thumping 101"
