How to make it

  • CAKE
  • Grease 9 X 13 cake pan and set oven to 375.
  • Sift together: sugar, flour, & salt. In sauce pan,mix butter, Crisco, cocoa and water; boil, pour over flour mixture and mix.
  • Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs, vanilla, & cinnamon.
  • Pour in prepared pan and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Leave in pan and prepare icing.
  • ICING
  • In a medium sized saucepan, melt butter; add Coke and 4 tablespoons cocoa.
  • Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
  • Stir in: powdered sugar
  • and vanilla.
  • Beat with mixer until smooth.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
  • Quickly spread on cake.

    I love this cake, too! We always called it a Texas Sheet Cake/Coke Cake. Lovely, fudgey, easy and rich. What else could you ask for?
