Oatmeal Cake With Caramel Frosting

- 1/2 cup oats shopping list
- 3/4 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list

- 3/4 cups plain flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- Ingredients for caramel Icing: shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup condensed milk shopping list
- 1/4 stick butter or margarine shopping list
- 1/4 cup coconut shopping list
- 1/4 cup nuts (your favorite shopping list
How to make it
- Preparation for Oatmeal Cake:
- Pour 3/4 cups boiling water over 1/2 cup oats and set
- aside until cool. Once cooled, mix in 1/4 cup
- vegetable oil, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white
- sugar, and 1 egg.
- In another bowl, sift together 3/4 cups plain flour,
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and
- 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix sifted ingredients into the
- oatmeal mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour batter into
- greased and floured 8-inch square baking pan. Bake at
- 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
- Preparation for Caramel Icing:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, bring 1/2 cup brown
- sugar, 1/4 cup condensed milk and 1/4 stick butter or
- margarine to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from
- heat and stir in 1/4 cup coconut and 1/4 cup nuts. Mix
- thoroughly and pour over cake.
- Serves: 8
