Ingredients

How to make it

  • Melt butter, blend in flour. Gradually add cream, stirring till it boils. Boil 2 mins.
  • Add mustard, salt and cayenne, add lobster and mushrooms .Mix well. Put in individual au gratin dishes or 1 larger dish.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and put under broiler to brown the cheese. I always serve with oven fries and peas.
  • If using whole lobsters, can be put back in shells to serve.I also slice the mushrooms sometimes insted of using them chopped.

I knew I wanted to make this from the first moment I saw it and I'm SO glad I finally did! An amazing, rich, simple way to prepare lobster great for a special occasion or to make any time feel special. I was lucky enough to find lobster tails on sale. We removed the shell and the digestive track (sorry it's gross but if you want to start with tails this is how) and cut into about 1-2inch pieces. I didn't have any mushrooms so left those out. I can't wait to make this again!

WOW! I've never seen frozen lobster meat, so the hunt is on!! Aldi's has langoustines for $7.99 a bag. I wonder if that would work? GREAT PIC!

Will the lobster cook thoroughly by just adding to the hot cream sauce and the time spent under the broiler? Haven’t worked with lobster before but I imagine it would be similar to shrimp, yes?
P.S. love those dishes in the photo.

My Dad used to make his own version of this dish which was butter, breadcrumbs and lobster meat sauteed together. I always thought this was the real way to make it, but soon found out otherwise. Your recipe sounds great, must try soon!
