The biggest sellers at our Reach-For-The-Top bakesales in high school! They have a different (and vulgar) name in our circle, but I changed it for posting! Finally pried the recipe from Vicki's hands when I graduated!

I think the real name would have been funnier. :)

Good recipe. The real name for this isn't exotic. It's "Boiled Cookie," and has been around for ages. And yeah, they are delicious. One variation uses 1/2 cup peanut butter instead of the coconut. And you can add nuts, if you wish. And butter instead of shortening gives it a great mouth feel. Good post.

I'll make these tomorrow for three reasons:
1.Your recipes always taste great and turn out perfectly
2.I have all of the ingredients on hand
3.My friends and family will enjoy them because of their vulgar name!!!

In the Southern US, we call these Cow Patties or Pies, and you can get them as small as a 50 cent piece or as big as the real thing. I love the addition of coconut. I like to use crunchy peanut butter and butter rather than shortening. It makes these so sinfully rich your teeth will ache for days.
