Ingredients

4 medium green tomatoes, cored and sliced

3/4 cup flour

1/4 cup corn meal

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 Tbsp sugar

1/2 tsp pepper

1 egg

vegetable oil

Directions

Make a batter of flour, meal, salt, sugar, pepper and egg. If batter is too thick, add a small amount of milk. Slice tomatoes and dip in batter. In heavy skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil. Brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
