Pie In A Bag

Found this after a local farm market started selling them. Only 1 crust. Unique baking method and a delicious, homey, fall pie.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 lbs. cooking apples shopping list
- 1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 2 tblsp. flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1 unbaked 9" pie shell shopping list
- 2 tblsp lemon juice shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 1/2 c. flour shopping list
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine shopping list
How to make it
- Peel apples, cut in fourths, trim out core, cut each piece in thirds.
- Place in bowl.
- Mix sugar flour and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples, toss to coat.
- Spoon into pie shell
- Drizzle with lemon juice.
- Make topping below
- Combine sugar flour, cut in butter.
- Sprinkle topping over filling.
- Slide pie into clean unused heavy brown paper bag (use a good sized heavy grocery bag)
- Fold over end two times, clip with a paper clip.
- Place on cookie sheet
- Bake at 425 degrees for 1 hour
- Split bag open (be careful of the steam)
- Cool Serve
