I love this casserole, especially in the fall and winter. You can add anything your heart desires ie. chopped tomatoes, sauteed green or red bell peppers, zucchini, celery... It is very chef friendly ;-)

I made this over the weekend, I sauted the onions and baked it in a ~325 over for a couple hours and left it uncovered...it browned up very nicely. Also, might want to put some Thousand Island Dressing out for those who want to drizzle a bit on their serving. It was good.

The nice thing about recipes is, we can tweak them here and there to satisfy our own needs ;-)

I prepared your recipe and followed it exactly the way you wrote it. It was so delicious and everyone was asking me to give them the recipe before they left. Thank you for a wonderful 5 fork casserole.

I really love cabbage in any form. Put it together with noodles and I'm happy. You have posted an excellent 5 recipe.

My hubs loves sauerkraut, and I think it's so-so. This might be something we both like! Thanks for sharing!
