Ingredients

How to make it

  • Sauté mushrooms, celery and green pepper in olive oil over medium heat stirring constantly, until most of the moisture has evaporated. About 15 minutes.
  • Add ground beef or turkey, and brown until completely cooked.
  • Drain any fat.
  • Add noodles, spice mix, milk and beef broth. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed.
  • If you find it is a little too dry, you can always add more broth as you go along.
  • Stir in sour cream.
  • Always check seasonings, adding more if you wish.
  • Top with grated Provolone, cheddar or Tex Mex cheese.
  • Note: I like to place it under the broiler for a couple of minutes just to lightly brown the top.

Excellent recipe! I wanted to use a whole bag of noodles, so I ended up tripling the liquids and I needed to add a bit more sour cream. Very tasty- we will have to make this again! Thanks :)

Yes... you can substitute yogurt for the sour cream and it not only reduces the fat but it adds probiotics to a delicious dish. I have used yogurt and it is just as delicious :D

To lower the fat in this you can use plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream :) Sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

I know about the $$$ difference and yes, it definitely makes a difference. We have friends who live in Alberta, Canada and their beef isn't injected with all the garbage(horror-mones, antibiotics etc.) like the beef found in the rest of the country. They have told us how delicious their beef is, many times over. I have never tried the organic beef but one day when my wallet is overflowing, I'll give it a try. Thank you Mellian for your suggestion ;-)

Get the organic beef or at least free range without antibiotics.. the taste difference in your recipes will astound you (and your wallet, unfortunately)
