How to make it

  • Mix all ingred. together and shape dough into balls a little larger than a walnut.Roll out dough on a floured board til thin.
  • Brown on a dry skillet, not too hot, then turn over and brown on other side.
  • Put on plate, brush with melted butter, stack on a pile until done.
  • Roll up and enjoy. Jelly can be used over butter also. I remember them looking like big brown spots on the pancake???

    Am I right in thinking these sound like a pastry? Sort of?

    My mom used to brown patties of left over mashed potatoes. They were quite plain, and I've wondered about (but not actively sought) something to do with L-O mashed pots that was more exciting.

    This sounds like good snacking finger food. Thanks for the posting.

    THESE SOUND ALMOST LIKE THE POTATOE PANCAKES MY MOTHER USE TO MAKE FOR US AS KIDS. WE LOVED THEM WITH SYRUP ON THEM WITH LOTS OF BUTTER. THANKS FOR THE POSTING OF THIS RECIPIE. JO

    Oh yes, dixiejet, that's what it reminds me of - lefse! Lightly buttered, then sprinkled with plain sugar or cinnamon sugar or brown sugar - that's how we ate it when I was a child (and still do!)...and I thought YOU were a southern girl, dixiejet - lefse is Scandinavian fare!!! Cheri, I'm so glad you shared this family treasure - isn't it wonderful when you find something like this that reminds you of those great "kitchen" memories with family! And I absolutely LOVE the recipe name - priceless...
