This was an awesome sight for me when I was a little girl. I watched my Baba make these. What amazed me was to see her place the dough right onto the hot (coal stove as we called them) and fry these odd- looking things that reminded you of stove rags... More

Oh yes, dixiejet, that's what it reminds me of - lefse! Lightly buttered, then sprinkled with plain sugar or cinnamon sugar or brown sugar - that's how we ate it when I was a child (and still do!)...and I thought YOU were a southern girl, dixiejet - lefse is Scandinavian fare!!! Cheri, I'm so glad you shared this family treasure - isn't it wonderful when you find something like this that reminds you of those great "kitchen" memories with family! And I absolutely LOVE the recipe name - priceless...

Am I right in thinking these sound like a pastry? Sort of?
My mom used to brown patties of left over mashed potatoes. They were quite plain, and I've wondered about (but not actively sought) something to do with L-O mashed pots that was more exciting.
This sounds like good snacking finger food. Thanks for the posting.
