Ingredients
  • 1 small head of cabbage, finely shredded/diced
  • 1 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 2 carrots, finely diced
  • 1.5" fresh ginger, minced
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Salt
  • *********************************************
  • Round or square wonton wrappers
  • Bowl of water (for sealing)
  • Bot of water (for boiling)

Directions
  1. To make fast work of veggie prep, I reccomend a good food processor! Thow in chunks, get back nicely diced/minced veggies.
  2. Once you have all your veggies ready, mix them in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste (remember, these will most likely be dipped so be light on the salt).
  3. Beat egg and stir into mixture. This will bind it a little and make filling easier.
  4. *********************************************
  5. To fold dumplings (will get pics soon):
  6. If you use square wrapper, place a small bit of filling in the center.
  7. Wet your fingertip and run it around the edges of the wrapper. Bring one corner over to another, making a triangle.
  8. Press wrapper down around filling, getting rid of air and seal edges. Rewet your finger if necessary.
  9. Bring opposite corners of triangle towards middle and press them together. Use water to seal.
  10. If you use round wrappers, follow same method with water and place filling in middle, bringing half over and sealing it. Make sure you get rid of extra air. Also, while you are sealing, pleat one side on top of the other. Again....I'll get pics soon. I hope this makes sense!
  11. *********************************************
  12. Boil dumplings in a large pot of water. When they float, they are ready! Pan-frying leftovers is a great idea (if you have them!) Fry them up on one side so itt's golden, and serve them golden side up.
  13. Serve with a great sauce and enjoy!

You are a mind reader! I have wanted to experiment with veggie dim sum (dumplings) for some time, but just never did. It will be so much easier with a recipe. Thanks.

Loved them! Do you recommend any particular dipping sauce?

Great dumplings I am printing this recipe to make tonight. You have my 5 fork rating
I make a dipping sauce of tamari soy sauce with fresh ginger a splash of sesame seed oil and fresh chives

Trigger's dipping sauce is a lot like what I usually make. Tamari sesame oil, maybe a little chili oil, and scallions! A sweet chili sauce would also work nicely. Sometimes I just use straight sriracha. It depends on your mood really!
