I always love to serve appetizers when I throw a dinner party. These work great and they are a nice change to a cheese dip (although I do love a nice cheese dip). :)

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ # ground meat
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup panko
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced, divided
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Italian seasoning
  • Mozzarella cheese, in tiny cubes
  • 2-3 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz.) crushed tomatoes
  • Onion, chopped

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350
  2. Line a flat baking sheet with parchment paper
  3. In a large bowl add ground beef, and next 8 ingredients (through Italian seasoning)
  4. Mix thoroughly and shape into 1-inch balls
  5. Push cheese into the middle of the ball and re-shape
  6. Place on lined baking sheet and bake until browned, 15-20 minutes
  7. In a slow cooker, add tomato sauce, tomatoes, Italian seasoning, onion, and garlic
  8. Keep hot while meatballs cook
  9. Add balls to sauce cook for 10 minutes
  10. Serve with toothpicks

Does the panko change the consistency of the meatball and can regular breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs be subbed. These sound great.
