Ingredients

How to make it

  • Mix together flour, salt and pepper
  • Pound into both sides of steak
  • Brown both sides of steak in deep electric skillet, in 1 - 2 T melted shortening
  • Lay onion slices on top
  • Sprinkle with worcestershire
  • Cover with tomatoes
  • Shake other seasonings over all
  • Heat to simmer
  • Reduce heat to low
  • Cover and cook 1 1/2 hours

    I haven't had Swiss Steak in ages but it was also a staple growing up. I first made it 30 years ago and haven't made it in a real long time. Just bookmarking it now so I will remember to make it. Great post.

    Sounds good, maybe the way my mom use to make it also except I think she added bell pepper to hers too. Bookmarking this one to give it a try, didn't have mom's recipe so hoping this will be similar. Thanks for sharing, great post.
