Saltine Cracker Candy Crunch Recipe
I make and give this candy away as gifts. No one ever guesses how easy it is to make, or that crackers are the base for it. Present in clear celophane wrapped up with festive ribbon or in a pretty tin.

Ingredients
  • 1 sleeve (about 24) saltines (I use a little more)
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 12 oz.(2c.) chocolate chips (I like Hersheys Dark Chocolate)
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts ((I use walnuts)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 deg. Line a cookie sheet with foil.Spray foil lightly with cooking spray.Cover foiled cookie sheet with crackers in one layer.Boil brown sugar and butter for 3 minutes on stove.Pour over crackers and spread evenly.Bake at 400 deg. for 5 minutes.Remove from oven.Sprinkle with chocolate chips.Let set one minute, then spread with spatula.Sprinkle with nuts, and press down lightly.Cool.Refrigerate, then break up into pieces. Keeps a long time in refrigerator.

Sounds very easy and tasty but I am not sure if it will be the same with the crackers we get in Greece.

I do something similar with graham crackers. I must try these.


I think this one will go on next years "gift recipes" list. It sounds so good, the salty sweet combo. Maybe we'll do it for a Nascar gathering. My husband is a huge Gordon fan too. I myself am a diehard Petty fan although I secretly hope that Gordon takes it cause I know Kyle Petty doesn't stand a chance.
