How to make it

  • Defrost the frozen bread dough.
  • Let rise and punch down.
  • Roll out to a 12 x 18 inch rectangle.
  • Mince the anchovy fillets.
  • Sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  • Combine the anchovy oil with 5 tbsp of the tomato sauce, pour over bread evenly; spread with your fingertips.
  • Season lightly with freshly cracked black pepper.
  • Oil a baking sheet with the olive oil.
  • Roll up the dough lenghwise like a jelly roll.
  • Place on baking sheet in a horseshoe shape.
  • Spread the dough with the remaining tomato paste to cover.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and allow to double in size.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Decorate loaf with extra anchovies if desired.
  • Bake 45 minutes until medium brown.
  • Cool on a wire rack.
  • Great toasted with cream cheese. But you didn't hear me say that....

    Yesssss...anchovies and fresh baked bread...what could be better??? along with a dirty martini...Voila...Amazing!!!

    Ohhhhhhhhhh, this recipe takes me back to Italy. I enjoyed a similar loaf while staying there but I remember olives in it as well. Thanks for sharing!
