Ok, I analyzed why the cookies did not rise and I think the butter I used was the culprit. I had some organic unsalted butter in the freezer and instead of allowing it to come to room temperature, I helped it along by placing it in the microwave for 30 seconds to soften it. So, I'm responsible for the flat cookies. But, like I said before, they are still very good.

I made this and the flavor is wonderful, but the cookies did not rise. All the batches were flat as a pancake. I used all-purpose flour because the recipe did not specify which kind to use. Also, one tablespoon will not make 9 dozen cookies, but one teaspoon would. I will use the flattend cookies as a topping for vanilla ice cream because despite the mishap, they are very tasty. Thanks for your post.
