Cinnamon Shortcakes With Warm Blueberry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Shortcake

2 C flour

4 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1 Tbl sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 Tbl firm butter

2 Tbl shortenign

1 Cup half and half

2 Tbl butter, melted

2 Tsp prepared cinnamonn-sugar ( or make your own)

Warm Blueberry Sauce

1/2 C sugar

1 Tbl cornstarch

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 Cup water

2 Tbl lemon juice

2 Cups fresh blueberries or unsweetend frozen(thawed and drained

1 Qt vanilla ice cream

Directions

450 oven

Ungreased cookie sheet

Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl

cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives criss-crossed, until crumbly

Stir in half and half just until moistend

Drop by rounded 1/4 cupfuls onto cookie sheet

Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar

Bake 10-15 minutes or until lightly golden

Make Sauce

Mix sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in a 1 1/2 qt saucepan

Stir in water and lemon juice until smooth

Stir in 1 Cup of blueberries

Heat to boiling pver medium heat, stirring constantly

Boil easily and stir 2 minutes or until thickened

Stir in remaining bleberries

Serve warm with with shortcakes and ice cream
