  • For the Apricot Puree:
  • 100 gr. Dried apricots,cut in medium pieces
  • 3 Tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water,
  • ___________________________________________
  • Meat Balls
  • 10 dried apricots
  • 10 dried dates
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • 500 gr. Ground beef
  • Salt, pepper
  • 2 tsp. Curry powder
  • 3 tsp. Apricot puree
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • ___________________________________________________
  • Sauce
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 2 tsp.melted butter
  • 2 tbsp. Flour
  • 2 cups beef broth

Directions
  1. Apricot puree
  2. Boil apricots in water for about 5 minutes, blend apricots, sugar and water in the blender, “pulsing” for 30 seconds. Until you have the puree.

  4. Meat balls
  5. In a large bowl mix ground beef, salt, pepper curry powder, onion apricot puree, and eggs. Mix well.
  6. Form meat balls and set aside.
  7. In a blender, Blend all sauce ingredients and pour into a sauce pan over medium heat, add meat balls, stirring
  8. Add dried apricots in pieces and dried dates in pieces…
  9. Cook for about 15 minutes.
  10. Serve over white rice and sprinkle sliced almonds.

Wonderful. I love to cook with dates (but not on dates ... I'm married). This a fun and easy recipe, that I'll bet is sweet and savory. Mmmm.
